Permafrost Road was originally started by three former Alaskans who wound up in Tucson. One member moved to Reno, so the band expanded to include “Banjo Bob” Emmert, Dan Mullin on upright bass, Jon Kinnaman on mandolin and guitar, Ken Brown on guitar and dobro, and John Adams on fiddle.
Permafrost Road played the Casa Grande Bluegrass Festival (2023) and will be performing at the Desert Bluegrass Festival in Marana on March 8, 2025. They have played at the Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley twice, most recently on November 19, 2024.
While traditional in structure, Permafrost Road plays a wide variety of songs and tunes from the Americana, Bluegrass, and Classic Country music repertoires, plus some Irish fiddle tunes.
