ELIGIBILITY: Beginner or intermediate players, this contest is designed to allow first timers an opportunity to prepare for future state/regional or national contents. Those that have placed in an instrument contest or have been playing and working with a band for numerous years are not eligible. Eligibility will be up to the discretion of the festival committee.
RULES: Each contestant must play 2 or 3 songs (melody solos) (playing the melody 2 or 3 times should be just over a minute) in a 2-4 minute time period. Judging will be based on staying in the time allotted, variations of breaks, difficulty of songs, timing and how much fun you’re having! Just kidding, this will be a blind judging so they won’t be able to see how much fun you are having. No speaking while performing. Each participant is allowed one or two accompanists.
ENTRY FEE: $5
PRIZES: $50 first prize in each category
